A hand-picked shelf of sagas worth reading — some finished, some only a few chapters in. Read-only, free to explore.
Awake is a single-reader testing rig for a serial story you shape through choices. It needs one API key — OpenRouter — to write and narrate. Stored only in your browser. Text model and narrator voice are configurable in Settings later.
Pick a template. You'll set the scene on the next screen — your character, or just the city for Night Work — and the story unfolds chapter by chapter, with choices that bend where it goes.
Fill in as much or as little as you want. Anything you leave blank, the story will invent.
Building a new saga takes about 3 minutes — we craft the world and write your first chapter before it's ready.
Here's where your idea could go. Edit the synopsis to steer it, then start — or try another take.

One narrator voice for every story. Changes apply going forward — already-listened-to audio stays as it was.
Settings for this saga. They apply only here — other sagas have their own.
Changes apply from here on — the next chapter, the next planned act, and the next bible rewrite. Already-written chapters keep what they had.
A standing instruction to the narrator about what kind of story you came for — what to slow down on, what to give a full chapter rather than a paragraph, what kind of moments deserve weight. The writer treats this as the reader's bargain with the story. Voice and craft rules still apply.
Already-written chapters keep their language. Brief foreign words for flavor are fine; no long untranslated passages unless your reader request asks for multiple languages.
Read-only view of this story's bible, acts, beats, and summaries. Useful for diagnosing why a chapter went the way it did.
Removes this story's rendered chapter audio from the cloud and this device. The next listen re-renders it (now as compact MP3). Narration chunks stay cached, so it won't re-bill the voice generation.
Dev test: replaces this story with a few one-word arc-0 chapters and parks you at the end of arc 0. Tap the chapter's continue button to see the new-arc ($9.99) paywall. Overwrites the story's chapters/acts — use only on a throwaway test story.
Awake is in beta — and your feedback is what shapes it.
Awake is still evolving, and your input directly shapes where it goes. If you hit a bug, have an idea, love something, or can't stand something, we want to hear it. No feedback is too small.
Awake is a new kind of reading — serial fiction written for you, one chapter at a time.
Most stories are written once, for everyone. Awake writes a story that belongs to you: you choose a world, shape who you are inside it, and tell it what you want to read. From there it composes a full book around your choices — chapter by chapter, with the decisions at each ending bending what comes next.
Every saga begins with a world and a character. As you read, the choices you make at the end of each chapter steer the story — characters remember, consequences carry forward, and the book stays continuous from the first page to the last. Read on screen or listen to built-in narration, and pick the story back up whenever you like.
Awake is built around the writing first. Each chapter is composed and then revised before it reaches you, with care for pacing, voice, and restraint — the aim is prose worth reading, not a novelty. The result is a book that feels authored, even though it is created on demand and shaped entirely by you.
The chapters you read are written and revised primarily by Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.8 — one of the most capable language models available. Lighter, faster models handle routine work behind the scenes, but the prose itself is shaped by a frontier model. That is the difference between a story worth reading and a gimmick.
Awake is in active development, with new worlds, features, and refinements arriving regularly. If you have feedback or ideas, we'd genuinely like to hear them — reach us any time at hello@awake-sagas.com.

Welcome to Awake (the “Service”), an experimental app that generates serial, choose-your-path fiction and spoken narration using artificial intelligence. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use the Service.
Awake is an early-stage preview. Features may change, break, or be removed, and stories are generated on demand by third-party AI models. We make no promise that the Service will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. Generated stories may contain mature or distressing themes (see the AI content notice).
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. If you supply your own model-provider API key, you are responsible for its use and any charges it incurs with that provider.
Don’t use the Service to break the law, infringe others’ rights, attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer it, or generate content that is illegal or that depicts the sexual exploitation of minors. We may suspend access for misuse.
All story text, choices, consequences, and audio narration are produced by large language and text-to-speech models. They can be inaccurate, inconsistent, biased, or unexpected, and must not be relied on as fact or as professional advice. See the full AI content notice.
The character details and steering requests you enter remain yours. You grant us the limited right to process them — including sending them to our model providers — solely to generate and store your stories. You are responsible for what you submit.
Payments are handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We receive confirmation and entitlement status, not your full card details. All prices are shown inclusive of any applicable tax at the point of sale.
7.1 One-time purchases. You can unlock a book for reading, add its narration, or buy both together (a discounted bundle). A one-time purchase grants ongoing digital access to that content on your account, as described at the point of sale.
7.2 Membership (subscription). Membership is an optional recurring subscription, billed monthly or yearly at the price shown when you subscribe. It includes a monthly quota of new chapters and narrated chapters. The quota resets at the start of each calendar month and does not roll over — unused quota expires. The monthly quota applies the same way whether you are billed monthly or yearly. If you reach your monthly quota, you can still buy a full book at any time as a one-time purchase. Your membership renews automatically for the same interval and price until you cancel. You can cancel any time from Account → Membership → Manage billing; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you keep access until then. We will give reasonable advance notice of any price change, and you may cancel before it takes effect.
7.3 Right of withdrawal (consumers in the EU/Austria). For distance contracts you generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal. Because the Service delivers digital content and services that begin immediately, by completing a purchase or starting a membership you expressly request that performance begin at once and acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal once performance has begun, to the extent permitted by law (§ 18 FAGG). For a membership, this concerns the access already provided in the current period; cancelling stops future renewals as described above. Your mandatory statutory consumer rights remain unaffected. To exercise a right of withdrawal where it still applies, or for any billing question, contact hello@awake-sagas.com.
The Service relies on third parties (hosting, authentication, database, AI model and voice providers, and payments). Your use of the Service is also subject to their terms, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body, or health).
We may update these Terms or discontinue the Service at any time. Continued use after changes means you accept them. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Austria, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence.

This policy explains what personal data Awake processes, why, and your rights. We aim to collect only what the Service needs to work.
The controller responsible for processing is Fabian Schneider (contact details in the Imprint; email hello@awake-sagas.com).
We process this data to provide the Service and your account (performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), to keep it secure and working and to understand and control costs (legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), and to meet legal obligations where they apply. The content you submit is sent to AI providers to generate your stories — a core function of the Service.
We use trusted providers acting on our behalf, including: Google Firebase (authentication, database, and serverless functions), our hosting/CDN provider, OpenRouter and the underlying AI model and text-to-speech providers (which receive your prompts and choices to generate text and audio), and our payment processor. Some of these may process data outside the EU/EEA under appropriate safeguards (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
We keep your account and story data while your account exists. You can delete stories, or your whole account, from within the app; deletion removes the associated data, subject to short technical backup cycles and any records we must retain by law.
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction or deletion of your data, restriction of or objection to processing, and data portability. You may also lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@awake-sagas.com.
Awake uses only essential browser storage to run: your sign-in session and the settings and (optional) API key kept on your device. For aggregate usage statistics we use Umami, a privacy-friendly, self-hosted analytics tool that is cookieless, does not track you across sites, and collects no personal data. We use no advertising trackers. You can review or change your choices any time via .
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed at children. Please don’t use it if you are under 18.
We may update this policy as the Service evolves; the “last updated” date reflects the latest version.

Awake is built on artificial intelligence. Please read this so you know what you’re reading and hearing.
All story text, the world, characters, the consequences of your choices, and the spoken narration are produced by large language models and text-to-speech models. No part of a chapter is written or fact-checked by a human before you see it.
AI output can be inaccurate, inconsistent from one chapter to the next, biased, or simply made up. Nothing in the Service is a statement of fact and nothing is professional advice — medical, legal, financial, or otherwise. Don’t rely on it for real-world decisions.
Stories are fiction for adults and may include violence, distress, intimacy, or other mature themes, sometimes shaped by the choices and steering you provide. Reader discretion is advised. Any resemblance to real people, places, or events is coincidental.
Narration is computer-generated speech. Voices are synthetic and not recordings of real performers.
We can’t review every generated output in advance. If something is harmful or seriously wrong, please tell us at hello@awake-sagas.com.
